Mexico update

Imagehttps://d3cm515ijfiu6w.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/29113517/Lewis-Hamilton-Mexican-GP-podium-PA1.jpg

The Mexican Grand Prix, a small circuit which has seen a Redbull resurgence that last 2 years. Would 2019 be any different?

Well in fp2 there was nothing between Redbull and Ferrari in terms of race pace. As both teams looked evenly matched. Mercedes México woes looked to be present once again as they appeared to struggle being 1/10 down on race pace simulations.

In qualifying the shootout at the front was Redbull vs Ferrari as max verstappen would throw down a mighty lap for the boys in red to chase. On the final attempts misfortune would strike Valtteri Bottas crashing out in the last corner which would bring caution flags out to neutralize the standings. Giving max pole for the 2nd time this season. What a shame as Sebastian vettel looked as though he had something special for the final attempt. But hold the phone as upon further review verstappen did not slow down through the yellow flag period at the end of qualifying and would be given a 3 place grid penalty a few hours later.

On race day Charles leclerc and Vettel would be on the front row. Hamilton and the newly grid placed verstappen on the second row. At lights out the Ferraris would get away clean but just behind them verstappen would come into contact with Hamilton removing some body work. The two would cut through the grass and rejoin the circuit with verstappen falling down to 8th. But verstappen’s bad luck wouldn’t stop there as a few laps later he would attempt a dive bomb on bottas which would result in puncture for max.

Up at the front leclerc, Vettel and Hamilton still going strong but no one is making any ground on the other. As brake tempts we’re teaching max temps whenever a car was in dirty air. Ferrari would opt for a 2 stopper on leclerc all while Vettel and Hamilton were going to attempt a 1 stop. In the end the one stopper was the right call bringing Hamilton in for the win as no one was able to follow another car close enough to challenge nor was tire degradation enough to make the 2 stopper into a race winning strategy.

Congratulations to Unlikeuday for winning the MEXICAN GP

USA update

Image
https://www.piston.my/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/F1.jpg

The United States GP a spectacular circuit and the only race held in the USA to date. Heading into this race all eyes were on Lewis Hamilton as all he needed was to finish 8th to win his 6th world championship. The wdc was already sign, sealed and just about to be delivered to Hamilton regardless of how Valtteri Bottas performed.

In qualifying the competition was fierce as this was the closest qualifying between 3 different teams with less then a tenth separating them. But it was the lap of Valtteri Bottas that clinched pole.

At lights out bottas got off to a great start but not as good as Lewis who gained jumped to p3 after turn 1 and then gained p2 a few seconds later as vettel was struggling for grip and was dropping fast losing 5 positions in 1 laps time. It wasn’t long before the left rear suspension gave out retiring Vettel. At the front it was bottas, Hamilton, verstappen with a leclerc in a lonely 4th place.

Verstappen opted for a 2 stop strategy which bottas covered going with the same but Hamilton took the 1 stop gamble and extended his stint. With bottas now hunting down Hamilton in the later stages of the race it didn’t look as though bottas would be able to close the gap dispute the fresher rubber. Hamilton’s pace wasn’t far off but once they clear led traffic the advantage was quite clear but Hamilton wouldn’t just let bottas by. The two would go wheel to wheel for a few laps but Hamilton’s tires were done for and bottas got around him on the straight and securing the win.
**** notable mention to Alexander albon for an amazing recover drive after the turn 1 contact***

Congratulations to Exediron & Icemanjee1 for winning the United States GP

Meeeeaaaaaannnn while back on our leader board all teams hold position as the USA GP was the closest round we have had all season. With just 6 points separating the entire field!!!. This was also the race that could have been for so many teams. 4 predictions were in contention for a 60pt bonus haul but a last Banceri, Jn23, Exediron and unlikeuday all had numerous drivers just 1 grid slot away from perfection. Congrats to all teams you were all soooo very close. STAY TUNED!!!!!

Overall standings

Brazil update

https://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/pierre-gasly-red-bull-toro-rosso-2019-formula-1-brazilian-grand-prix-autodromo-jose-carlos-pace-podium.jpg

The Brazilian GP did not disappoint once again with a thriller of a race start to finish. We also saw Charles leclerc & Carlos Sainz charing through the field with some gutsy dives on the inside of turn 1. Alexander albon putting together a brilliant display of driving to put himself into possible podium contention late in the race and Max verstappen having some excellent overtakes on Lewis Hamilton for the lead. This race was a real joy to watch as there was action up and down the field. But the most talked about events would be the clash between the 2 Ferrari’s taking each other out and Lewis Hamilton coming together with albon ruining the chance of his maiden podium.

In the end verstappen would go on to win the race along with Pierre gasly & Carlos sainz getting their first podiums in F1. Bravo gentlemen, BRAVO!

Congratulations to Icemanjee1 for winning the Brazilian GP

Race results as follows

🥇Icemanjee1 37 🏆

Mmmmeeeeaaaannn while back on our leader board Icemanjee1 has taken a good sized chunk out of Banceri’s lead with 47 points separating the two. Also Jn23 continues his rise up the field and is now tied for 4th in the standings with Exediron. Heading into the final race every team is still in the championship fight. A perfect score in this game will Net you 435 points. Now realistically that is not a easy feat to accomplish but it is possible and let’s not forget the other bonus points options. STAY TUNED, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!!

Bonus points reminder
•100 bonus points - Correctly predict the top 10 finishers in position in the same race.
•60 bonus points - Correctly predict six of the top 10 drivers in position in the same race.
•30 bonus points - Correctly predict the top three finishers in position in the same race.
•20 bonus points - Correctly predict the driver on pole position, the driver with the fastest lap and the driver who gained the most positions, all in the same race.
•10 bonus points - Correctly predict the winner of a race.

Overall standings

🥇Banceri 957 👑
🥈Icemanjee1 910 (-47)
🥉Mayhem 814 (-86)
—————————————-
4- Exediron 790 (-24)
4- Jn23 790 (-24)
6- Unlikeuday 780 (-10)
7- Toda11blue 714 (-66)

Not me. I'm not worried about someone looking at my predictions and figuring out how to steal 4th place off of me. :uhoh:
