With the right car Monaco can be fun but in the Sauber it wasn’t for me atleast. Imo Your setup at Monaco has to be more oversteer to get the most out of the controller (Uday & I both play on PS4 with controllers)

What car are you using and what setup (custom or default) ???

The Monaco track in F1 2018 is more easier but still a pain. I'm in my 2nd year in career with Sauber & Monaco was the only track I didn't want to finish (even though I'm just doing 25% races). Going through the programmes is also a nightmare. In the race, I purposely crashed my car to get over with it.

In Monaco & Singapore, I usually prefer bringing the ballast ahead. I've always used custom setups but have heard in this year's game, the default setups are also good.

@JN23 - For the hairpin, I remember in the F1 2017 game where the issue was a BIG deal, players suggested to change the calibration settings of the controller (saturation etc.). I did that & could make the turn. In F1 2018, I kept the same settings & have no issue in turning.

Cheers both for your responses. I'm driving a Force India and use the five default setups the game provides.

I also had that problem on F1 2017... I'll see how it goes when I get back to Monaco in season 2. I'm also just incredibly slow there but I think that's on me haha

I'll have a go at both of your ideas of making the car more oversteer and bringing the ballast forward.

Just raced at Monza and I had managed to get myself up to second at the start from fifth on the grid. I was behind Vettel but ahead of Hamilton, Raikkonen and Bottas. I remained in P2 due to a tyre advantage until the first stops but had fallen about 10 seconds behind Vettel. Around this time Verstappen encountered a mechanical problem which meant he started doing laps around 4:30 whilst still being on the racing line. This meant that you would lap Verstappen about 3 times for every lap he did. One weird thing was that the group behind me all significantly slowed everytime the encountered him around the Parabolica and lost 3/4 seconds.

All this meant what I was expecting to be a tough second stint with everyone on medium tyres led to me finishing P2 with a 20+ second lead over the pack behind.

You'll be amazed at how the AI behave! If there's a car that's spun or crashed & is on the racing line, the AI won't stop & just crash into it. Overall, I love the game but found F1 2017 a tad more easier to understand & appreciate. The career model in F1 2018 is a bit too confusing at times when compared to the 2018 version but that's ok.

Some really interesting stuff here. Looks like F2 and some form of driver transfer (At least from F2 to F1) are, if not confirmed, then very, very likely to feature in next year's game.

Modders have found code relating to 2019 F1 and F2 cars in the game files. Including all of the current F2 drivers names and the F2 format. There's also a really interesting bit of dialogue with Claire the press lady where one of your response options mentions that your happy that you will be able to continue your rivalry with a driver from F2 in F1, so it appears that it isn't just you who will progress, does this also indicate driver transfers between F1 teams?

Another thing found was some text explaining that you will be able to customise your car livery for online races by spending "competition points" earned through multiplayer.

There's some suggestion that since these are in this year's game file they could be intending to release F1 2019 as a DLC for this year's game rather than a full game release. That seems a bit odd to me but perhaps if they wanted to start releasing the games earlier in the season they may need to do this for the first year in order to move the window forward, and could then release a new game closer to the beginning of the season from 2020 onwards.

Thanks for sharing that, some really interesting stuff. I'd like to see F2 bought into the game.

I always heard that licensing was an issue with driver moves - i.e. I imagine Merc don't particularly want Hamilton to be driving for someone else etc, so maybe they've got a way around that. And if they want to start releasing near the beginning of the season then they either have to DLC or just skip a year to make it possible.

I’ve actually spoken to code masters recently and one of the questions I asked was why isn’t the game released along side it’s real life counter part so the fans have the ability to play a full season of events.

There reply

“Due to the secretive nature of the sport and how late information about the cars, new technology, tracks,... it is impossible to release the game at the start of the season.”

The bit about tracks is weird. F1 2010 was released before we reached Korea for the first time and the same for India the following season if I remember correctly. It may have happened since too.
