Nice of you to give me a point, but it has nothing to do with my prediction.

I had you down for Hamilton / Ricciardo / Bottas, but I see upon a closer inspection that it was fake news. Okay, chalk up error #4 for this loathsome farce of a weekend! x(

The important thing to take away from this weekend Exediron, is that we won.

Guys!! Had a good summer break, can't wait to get the second half of the season started in Spa. We started off really slow at the bottom but our car has come to life and with the last few results we're an earshot away from the top. Our factory has been working hard so hopefully we can continue our pre-summer break form into the latter stages.

Spa:

1. Hamilton
2. Bottas
3. Raikkonen

Not putting Vettel as 3rd seems like a risk, but Kimi does like it round here :?

Aha I promise I'm not copying intentionally  I saw you had Hamilton but I didn't look at your second/third predictions before posting mine.

Tempted to go for Vettel as his long runs were best and everyone else is going for Hamilton, but I figured I'd play it safe this time.

2017 BELGIAN GRAND PRIX RESULTS

This race is really a story of what could have been, in terms of scoring.

There could have been variance among the picks for the winner: there wasn't. Every single entrant picked Lewis Hamilton to win, so that tells you something about the scoring right there. Someone could have had Ricciardo on their podium and picked up the win that way, but - despite him having more podiums than anyone but the championship contenders - no one did. A few people bought into the Verstappen hype train and put him on the podium, but his race was over long before he had any chance to make a claim at that third spot.

In the end, the winners were determined by having gone for Vettel in second. Of those winners, three were on course to have a perfect podium if Bottas had stayed in third, two of them would have had a perfect podium if Raikkonen had taken third instead, and one of them would have had it if it had just been the other Bull that took third. But none of those happened, so we have just two different scores for this race; 8 and 5.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Place - 8 points
Black_Flag_11, Exediron, Fountoukos13, robins13, Icemanjee1, Lotus49

Second Place - 5 points
Everybody else

Did Not Start
Ruste13

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As expected, movement in the standings was minimal this round. Being among those who picked the correct top two allows Icemanjee1 and Black_Flag_11 to slip past Herb, demoting him to fourth in the process. Fifth and sixth places stay with TheDamus and TypingChicane, respectively, while Exediron moves up to seventh. Jezza13 remains in eighth behind, and Bentrovato in ninth. The tie for tenth is joined now by Fountoukos13, rounding out the 'top ten' along with Jenson's Understeer and Mayhem.

Outside the top ten, Remmirath loses a place to the growing tie, falling to thirteenth. A share in the joint win allows Lotus49 to jump theferret and cm97 for fourteenth, with the two of them falling into fifteenth and sixteenth behind. With Ruste13 recording a fourth DNS on the season, defending champion robins13 is finally no longer in last place, also recording his first win of the (rather dismal, by his standards!) season.

Individual Standings - Round Twelve

1. mcdo --- 53 Points
2. Icemanjee1 --- 51 Points
3. Black_Flag_11 --- 50 Points
4. Herb -- 49 Points
5. TheDamus --- 47 Points
6. TypingChicane --- 46 Points
7. Exediron --- 45 Points
8. Jezza13 --- 44 Points
9. Bentrovato --- 42 Points
~ 10. Fountoukos13 --- 38 Points (0 Perfect Podiums, 2 Wins)
~ 10. Jenson's Understeer --- 38 Points (0 Perfect Podiums, 2 Wins)
~ 10. Mayhem --- 38 Points (0 Perfect Podiums, 2 Wins)
13. Remmirath --- 36 Points
14. Lotus49 --- 35 Points
15. theferret --- 34 Points
16. cm97 --- 33 Points
17. robins13 --- 29 Points
18. Ruste13 --- 24 Points

With everyone scoring at least 5 points, every team scored at least 10. Despite that, there were still some moves:

Jalopy Racing stays on top for now, but their margin has shrunk to just 5 points to McLotus. Drive Sauber falls from third all the way to sixth due to not having a share in the round win, showing just how tight the field is this year. They are replaced by defending team champions Mind Your Manors, the only team to score a win with both drivers. Also jumping them are Bernie's Bwoah - by one point - and the 2016 champs, No Limit Excedrin Racing, who get past on a tie.

Behind them, Massa Attack and Sand Bag'n hold position in seventh and eighth, with Sand Bag'n gaining incrementally.

Team Standings - Round Twelve

1. Jalopy Racing (Herb & Jezza13) --- 93 Points
2. McLotus (Lotus49 & mcdo) --- 88 Points
3. Mind Your Manors (Black_Flag_11 & Fountoukos13) --- 87 Points
4. Bernie's Bwoah (Icemanjee1 & cm97) --- 84 Points (0 Perfect Podiums)
5. No Limit Excedrin Racing (Exediron & Jenson's Understeer) --- 83 Points (1 Perfect Podium, 6 Wins)
6. Drive Sauber (Remmirath & TheDamus) --- 83 Points (1 Perfect Podium, 5 Wins)
7. Massa Attack (theferret & Bentrovato) --- 76 Points
8. Sand Bag'n (robins13 & Mayhem) --- 67 Points

The field remains incredibly tight; a single perfect podium could see anyone from 9th place on assuming the lead, and a double perfect podium could put any team in first place. Predictable winners and surprises lower down the podium have generally led to flat scoring; will the same hold true in Monza, where just about everyone seems certain Mercedes will hold a huge advantage?

And when will people finally start putting Ricciardo on their podiums? :D

Unofficial Knockout Update (pending an official one by Jenson's Understeer)

Hungary marked the end of the initial round, and the following people should be continuing through to the quarter-finals:

Higher-seeded Black_Flag_11 defeated Lotus49, 10-7
Underdog Fountoukos13 defeated TheDamus, 9-5
Higher-seeded Herb defeated Jenson's Understeer, 13-9
Higher-seeded TypingChicane won by default against Ruste13, 5-0
Higher-seeded mcdo defeated theferret, 14-8

There were also a number of ties, broken according to the tiebreakers:

Higher-seeded Exediron defeated Jezza13, 10-10 (no perfect podiums, Exediron had more wins, 1-0)
Higher-seeded Icemanjee1 defeated Remmirath, 6-6 (neither had a perfect podium or win; Icemanjee1 was the higher seed)
Higher-seeded Mayhem defeated cm97, 6-6 (neither had a perfect podium or win; Mayhem was the higher seed)

Meaning that the quarter-final match-ups should be:

#2. Icemanjee1 vs. #18. Fountoukos13
#3. Black_Flag_11 vs. #8. Exediron
#4. Herb vs. #7. Mayhem
#5. TypingChicane vs. #6. mcdo

With one round of the quarter-finals down, all four matchups are currently tied (8-8 for the top two, and 5-5 for the bottom two).

Hopefully Jenson's Understeer will correct me if I got anything wrong, but otherwise, that's the picture of where we are now!

Yes, this season is easily the tightest since I joined this competition in 2015. Perfect Podiums are so rare that actually nailing one has a huge effect on your championship position.

... So obviously everyone should get bold with their predictions for Monza, right? :D

Definiately Would have been interesting to see how rosberg would have done in this years title fight. But this season has for sure been a tough lottery for perfect podium. Just when you think you know how the season is going some else makes the podium.

All looks correct to me, including a huuuuuuge shock with Fountoukos13, the lowest remaining seed, eliminating the #1 overall seed!

The first race of the Quarter Final stage is pretty straightforward: everybody left scored the same number of points as their opponent, essentially making this a two-race shootout for a place in the Semis, and handing a slim advantage to those who are seeded higher.

Icemanjee1 (8) 8 vs. 8 (8) Fountoukos13
Black_Flag_11 (8) 8 vs. 8 (8) Exediron
Herb (5) 5 vs. 5 (5) Mayhem
TypingChicane (5) 5 vs. 5 (5) mcdo

I'd prefer to put Vettel a bit higher, but I just feel Mercedes has too much of an advantage here, and Bottas looks back on form.

Kind of want to go for a Ferrari win but I'm not brave enough.
