As mentioned in the main competition thread, there are a few proposals I'd like everyone's input on ahead of the upcoming season. Since unlike F1 this is at least something of a democracy, the fairest way to settle the issue seems to be a vote.
Proposals on the ballot:
Change prediction deadline to any time before the start of FP3 instead of 20:00 UK time (Exediron)
Quote:
The current deadline of 20:00 UK time isn't convenient for me as curator, and it wasn't very convenient for me when I was a competitor either. Considering that we have competitors from all around the world with varying schedules, it seems to me that the best solution is just to allow predictions up to the official start of FP3. There may occasionally be some advantage to waiting to the deadline, but I believe such cases will be rare and the benefit of fewer competitors accidentally missing the deadline should outweigh any slight competitive advantage for the late pickers.
If this proposal fails, I will make the executive decision to switch the deadline to 20:00 EST instead; I can't reliably be available at the UK time deadline to handle anything that comes up.
Add separate team picks and individual picks (Mayhem)
Quote:
Suggestion for next season allow different picks between the drivers and constructors standings. Allowing you to make different selections incase you wanna take risk in one championship and not the other.
PlanetF1 Top Three Knockout Cup (Jenson's Understeer)
Quote:
After the first six races, the standings would be used to create a knockout tournament. Everybody who had participated in at least one of the first six races would be seeded according to their overall ranking, with the highest seeds receiving a bye into the last 16. How many exactly would depend on how many entrants we had, of course. Using the 21 participants we had last year as an example, the top 11 would advance to the last 16 with those ranked from 12 through to 21 taking part in the qualification round. In the qualification round, the highest seed would face the lowest seed (so 12 vs 21, 13 vs 20, etc.) and that system would continue for the rest of the tournament, with the highest remaining seed always facing the lowest remaining seed, second highest facing the second lowest and so on.
Each round would take place over three races (as below). It would therefore be a best two-out-of-three system. For each individual race, the points scored would be compared and the highest scorer in each match-up would win that race, giving them a win towards the two they need to advance. In the event of neither person winning two of the three races, we would have the following tiebreakers (applied in this order): most points scored over the three races; most perfect predictions over those three races; most 1st places over those three races; highest seed.
Races 7, 8 and 9: Qualification Round
Races 10, 11 and 12: Last 16
Races 13, 14 and 15: Quarter-finals
Races 16, 17 and 18: Semi-finals
Races 19, 20 and 21: Final
[NOTE: Jenson's Understeer would be the curator of this cup competition]
And that's all the proposals I've received/authored.
Voting will continue until Thursday next week (assuming I've set the poll up correctly!); at the close, any proposal that has achieved a majority (51% or more) of support will be added to the ruleset of the competition. Majority will be reckoned against 'No' votes, so if only 3 people vote on an issue and 2 vote 'Yes' the proposal will pass despite 2 'Yes' votes being nowhere near a majority of entrants.
Lastly, please don't vote unless you're actually a participant in the Top Three Championship. I can't stop you, but it wouldn't be very nice.
And don't vote for the dash things.
