25+25+15+25+15+25+18+18+0+18=184 if I can count.

Minus my 18 penalty points so... 166

Hopefully that doesn't make too big a difference in the end

187, I believe. Reckon that should be enough to finish in the top-10, but as it was a rather predictable race I suspect there won't be many positions to be gained.

You'll definitely be jumping me, so that gives you a bit of a buffer. I would've managed to hold on if I hadn't got my timings mixed up. All part of the fun though, I'll just have to do better next year

We actually both had a fairly strong final race, but I have to concede. By my calculations you beat me to 40th place by 6 points.

Looks like 40 of you will get bans :P

Round 21: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a slow burner of a race in order to dictate the championship. Hamilton led the way with Rosberg following him for the whole race. Knowing that it wouldn't be enough for him to win, Hamilton bunched the pack up and put Rosberg into a lot of pressure from Verstappen and Vettel who was coming from the back at the end. Button retired from his last grand prix while Massa held off Alonso for 9th. In the end, Hamilton won the race, but it was Rosberg that became 2016 champion.

Here are the results of Top 10 Competition:

In third place, with a score of 198, receiving the "Superb Vettel Trophy"

Managed to climb back into the Top 24 this race, winning a Wehrlein Trophy for 19th. I'll take that!

Very disappointing result at the end, and my worst finish in Abu Dhabi by far. This has been a bit of a roller-coaster year for me in the competition, and sadly the ride ended on a distinct downward slope.

Congratulations to Covalent on a well deserved championship, and hopefully next year I'll figure out how to put together two good halves to a season! :-P

I bloody knew it, 3 good races at the end of the season with results in the top 15, and miss the placings by 12 points after being miles behind.... If Vettel had been good and stayed in 5th place, i'd have broken 200 in that last race.. Hrmpf...

Well done to the 24 who got onto the leaderboard... <sniff>

I didn't do as well as I was hoping at one point in the season, but I'm still quite pleased with twenty-second in my first year, and look forward to attempting to better it next year. Congratulations to Covalent, Typing Chicane, Exediron, and everybody else who finished in the top twenty-four or got an award!

Woohoo! Just finished watching the race, so glad for Nico for winning the WDC, and equally glad for my own championship of course :) So receiving the Nico Rosberg trophy is special on two levels!
Pleased to have finished the season with what I believe is my eight podium of the season.
Congrats to TypingChicane for the win and the last minute jump in the standings, and to Exediron as well for a good season and tight battle throughout, even though you struggled a bit in the end. I'm sure you'll bounce back next year.

Finally a big thank you to the organizers, especially pokerman. Top job

Thanks. I see I picked up some other trophies as well. Wonder how much a Bernie Ecclestone's Gold Medallion would do on e-bay.
Shouldn't Covalent win some sort of podium clinging trophy with all those scored top spots?

Also just realized that besides taking the Hamilton Trophy just now, my three wins (one shared with Colesy) all came in weekends when Hamilton won the race. Now I will have to root for Lewis for the rest of his (and my  ) career!

Some interesting stats from the year:-

Double Centurions

purchville 216
TypingChicane 216
Lax_T800 211
Icemanjee1 208
mcdo 204
Colesy917 202
Covalent 202
jzusy 202
TheDamus 202
Hamilton_Jar 202
Peter2673 202
theferret 202
Lax_T800 201 (2)

Multiple Winners

TypingChicane 3
Covalent 2
Colesy917 2
Lotus49 2
UnlikeUday 2
purchville 2*

*Back to back wins

Podium Specialists

Covalent 8*
Lax_T800 6
Exediron 5
Lotus49 5
Mayhem 4
TypingChicane 4
Schumacher forever#1 4

*Includes 3 podiums in a row

Interesting that Covalent and TypingChicane appear on all 3 lists and they finished 1-2 in the standings, unfortunate for Exediron that he was up against such a high standard and I would venture many a year he would have won.

A breakdown of the Champion's season:-

Wins: 2
Podiums: 8
Top 6's: 11
Top 10's: 14

That's got to be a standard bearer for seasons gone and seasons to come, however there is some hope for us mere mortals in that he finished last in one round.

Looking back through all this it reminds me of how much I struggled in comparison to previous seasons, after 10 rounds I was outside the top 10.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if it weren't for that stupid post-race Vettel penalty I'd be (joint) first in all categories :x

I think TypingChicane was on a steady rise through the ranks, I wonder if I would have been overtaken had there been a few more races, statistically speaking.

What's strange for me is that even though I've pretty much used the same method for forming my predictions as always, this year has been my best by a huge margin.

They were strong, and I don't want to take anything away from their performances. But...

Really though, unlike Hamilton I don't think I can blame any external element for why I lost. I'm confident I would have won if I'd kept up the same form I had for the first part of the year; at Hungary I scored my final podium, having at that point 5 podiums out of 11 races and an average finish of 9th. For the next ten races, I scored 0 podiums, 0 top tens, and had an average finish of 20th. I had a 59-point lead to Covalent after Hungary and 91 points on TypingChicane. Last year I did the opposite, starting terribly and then going from 44th after Spain to 4th at the end. Maybe next year I can start decently and then not turn into crap halfway through!

Yes you would have scored 216 points equal highest score with 2 double centuries, 3 wins and 9 podiums, also without that penalty I may have finished 7th. :)

TypingChicane was third for a long while my feeling is that you was still out scoring him in the second half of the season, I will check.

Edit: Yes you was leading after round 8 with a 91 point lead over TypingChicane, then you had a couple of poor rounds which enabled Exediron to retake the lead and then extend his lead whilst TypingChicane closed the gap down to 45 points and at that point, round 10, he moved into third position. Exediron kept the lead for the next 3 rounds after that whilst TypingChicane chiselled the gap down to 23 points. Round 14 you scored 202 points retook the lead and opened the gap out to 39 points to TypingChicane, after that you kept the afterburner still on and just kept on pulling away with just one poor round at race 18.

I never realised that you suffered such a big collapse, also after Hungary I was 117 points behind you but at seasons end I was just 33 points behind, if you had scored the same amount of points that I did you would have won the title. 8O

The last ever Felipe Massa trophy!!! :D This is 'for sure' the happiest 11th place I will ever achieve. Farewell Felipe.

Congratulations to Covalent on a mega season and all the other place getters.

Finally, thanks to Pokerman and Fountoukos13 for keeping this show on the road. Adds some interest to the weekends.
