Hi there very new here and looking for advice.

I have been a Motorsport fan for many years and this year i will be attending the British F1 GP the last 2 years we have been to silverstone to the Renault world series but this is my first F1 GP and i would like to get a better camera.

I am divided between 2 options.
u
1 is to get a 2nd hand Eos 350D or 400D from eBay for about £130-160 then get a 2nd hand Tamron 70-300mm AF lens for about £40-50.

2 is to get a new Eos 1100D from a catalog and then the lens from eBay.

Would really appreciate any advice or guidance

Thank You in advance

Lee

Well if you can spring for the extra then definitely get the 1100D. You get 12mp instead of 10, both use 9 point AF, but the 1100D has the 63-area iFCL color-sensitive metering from the top end 7D. The only thing it doesn't have from the 400D is the self cleaning system, but apart from that it is a really good entry level DSLR - I have got one for the wife recently and the shots are pretty good for the price of the camera.

However probably the clinching feature it has over the earlier cameras - and one you will probably want to be using at the F1 - is 720p movie recording at 30 or 25fps using H.264 compression. Video quality is very good, and the built in mike is enough to get the atmosphere of where you are filming.

The thing I would highly recommend is that you make sure you get an image stabilizing lens - it really does make a difference, especially with a 55-200mm or 75-300mm lens which is probably what you would want for F1 (18-55mm is obviously that 'standard' and cheapest but probably wont be long enough to get close to the cars)

I'd stretch it to the 1100 if you can (I used to have a 350, now have a 550) - but I would plan on having to up your lens budget I'm afraid.
