Apparently Lewis boy has co-written and performed on a song with christina aguilera which has been released and its not bad.

Hes going under the name xdna or somet like that and the song is called 'pipe' as in laying pipe if you get my drift. For any of those interested he comes in towards the end does a little rap (drake style) and a little bit of singing.

That boys star is set to rise and rise which will hopefully pull more peeps to f1. Its probably why merc have agreed to pay him 40 mil.

I hope so, Bigger audience means maybe lower TV fees. But I'm not sure that F1 and rap music target the same demographics.

If they bring back some of the excitement with the noise and cars being extreme versions of the current feel I could see the 2 meet once again.

Back in the day F1 was the rock and roll sport of its time.

And yes massively hoping for cheaper fees.

So F1 fans suddenly feel otherwise crap music now is good because an F1 driver is involved in it. Aguileras voice is holding up the whole tune which is pretty flat and repetetive.

Song here: https://youtu.be/1ScJ0BUDc6Y
Lewis @ 2:40

I thinks it's beyond awful to the point I'm having a hard time to consider it music. It's the same beat from beginning to end and they're narrating rather than singing.

But hey, to each their own I guess.

Nobody on this thread has said it's good. I think the song is dire but Lewis' vocals are OK.

Seems to have gone down well in the music press and on their forums. Thank god we have so many r&b experts on here to give us their take. Obviously Drake fans.

I'm sorry my opinion on music is what it is. I will try to change it. For you.

Not my sort of music at all so not for me to say if it's any good or not. But the heavy use of computerised assistance on Lewis' voice is hardly a ringing endorsement of his singing ability.

Man some people are just haters!

While vocally this isn’t one of Christina’s more technically superb performances, it’s still fantastic and flawless in every facet. It’s just different to her usual belting out strong vocals and hard hitting higher notes. It’s not lesser, just different. Just like Prince’s Kiss (my favorite song of his ever) is totally unique and different to most of his other works. And while Purple Rain is one of the greatest songs ever written, produced and performed, it doesn’t mean his other works were less than. They’re all just DIFFERENT.

As for the heat to this being repetitive... HELLO!!!

Most songs are sung over the same repetitive beat from start to finish. Stuck in the middle with you by Steelers Wheel is a folk rock song that’s one of my favorite songs of all time, and outside the tiny lift break in the middle l (no pun intended) the heat is as repetitive as anything you’ll ever hear, from the cowbell, to the guitar rift, to the base line, drums andnoh yeah the hand clapping!... it’s repetitive all the way through. But somehow I’m 100% positive no one in here would ever over scrutinize and over analyze it the way they have done with this new song. I wonder why that is.

There are very few songs that aren’t repetitive, one being Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen in which while musically it’s all over the place, is a total and utter masterpiece.

This style of music may not be your thing, but it doesn’t mean it’s meh at best. Lewis has been working on music for a long time now and he’s close friends with countless musicians and Iconic figures in the industry, and he’s taken the initiative to put himself out there and that’s commendable.

You know who’s a musical tragedy?!??... David Hasselhoff! The man is a bad donkey as Michael Knight, but when it comes to singing and dancing he is an atrocity. However, I commend him for taking the initiative and putting himself out there, and unbelievably, it seems that Germany has more tone deaf people than any other country on the planet because holy geezusssss do they love their Hasselhoff! The guy sells out arenas there and even Dirk Nowitzki has no shame in admitting he’s also tone deaf!!! Lmao

The comparison to Drake is a fair one, only perhaps in style but at least Lewis wrote his own lyrics.
Just saying.

I think it’s a good thing for both Lewis and the sport and all his sponsors as a whole. It just attracts more eyes, ears, and ultimately wallets to a sport that used to not be cash strapped.

My goodness that’s one of the most preposterous statements I’ve ever muttered and I can’t belive that with all the money teams have at their disposal, it’s true.

Hey Brittany Spears was the highest grossing entertainer for a good 5 year stretch and she can’t sing a lick of ANYTHING!!!

Auotunes has unfortunately become a staple of the music industry and tons of people use it. I hate it myself but if so called “professional” singers can get away with it, why can’t lewis?

To dislike a piece of music does not make one a "hater".

If you're asking whether I like it or not, I don't, autotune drives me nuts and I'm not a fan of Aguilera either. I like the genre so that isn't the issue either it just doesn't grab me and nothing about it stays with me.

Good for him for doing something he loves or enjoys if it is indeed him though, music isn't something you can file into good and bad I don't think, so it's entirely personal taste and there will be plenty that like it I'm sure.

No idea what XNDA is supposed to mean. Is it even 'X' or is it 'cross' like the X-Bow that I was calling a X-Bow instead of Cross-Bow because of Forza 5 and never hearing it pronounced out loud before, lol.

This. I find it mildly amusing that people are writing walls of text to lecture others because they don't like it

Someone referred to it as beyond awful!

If that’s not hate, IDK what is.

It may not be to their liking but to say beyond awful is preposterous and can only be equated to HATE.

Well, I wouldn't call it awful, but I just can't appreciate this type of music. It has far too much tuning and editing in it. The lack of variation annoys me too. Just sounds too simple and repetitive. The voices just don't sound realistic. Especially Hamilton. As I'm into my audio, I can quite easily tell that there is a voice that has been messed around with and tweaked if you know what I mean. So few song have their singers natural voice these days in the studio recordings when the song is completed. But I still should respect Hamilton for doing this while being busy with his F1 career at the same time. I'm just a fan of older music if anyone can guess by my name. The singer of this track title virtually never used anything to make his voice sound different!

Yeah not for me, it's pretty much what I imagined him doing but I had hoped he would go more down the rap route than r&b.

That was me, and that's my opinion on it. I find nothing even remotely OK with this song. If, by hater, you mean a hater of this very song then guilty as charged. I absolutely hate it. If by hater you referred to something bigger than just this song, then that's nonsense.

And I don't know why that would be "preposterous". I have a broad spectrum of emotions on music, and some fall in the "utter dislike" extreme of this spectrum. This song is among those.

It's not my kind of thing (at all), but I didn't think he did badly considering.

For reference, here are some examples of being beyond awful. Listen at your own risk:

Given we're talking about F1 WDCs who have ventured into music (and not to everyone's taste!) I genuinely thought that link was going to go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BVn5EvRveM

Didn't he sell an obscenely low number of copies of his album?

Nah this will be moved off topic soon I think. F1 drivers on Top Gear doesn't count so I can't see how this could.

Though having said that the forum is hardly cluttered too much these days and most people wouldn't even see it in the off topic section so I don't think it would hurt for the rules on this to be relaxed a little.

I'm not a fan, but I'm generally not a fan of that droney, Drake-esque music. Based on his sales, it seems a lot of people are though.
