Jesus.

Hopefully inaccurate reporting. If not, hope they've put the prick down quick.

All the best Frenchies - this is becoming wearying in the extreme.

Unlikely to be gendarmes (not usually stationed in Paris), either the Police or the many non gendarme Military on duty.

Police HQ confirms they lost an officer and another was wounded. Armed patrols, a police helo and anti-riot police are on site.

I was generalising- the army were on the streets there last summer, the whole city was swamped with them.

I've been reading all week that Paris have been expecting expecting an attack in the run up to the elections.

Thankfully the security forces look like they did their job brilliantly. RIP to the lost soul,

my company's Paris office is just off the champs So I see them whenever I visit.

just clarifying that gendarmes don't normally operate in Paris.

Will be working there soon :|

Hopefully an erroneous report of multiple attackers, as is often the case.

Meanwhile, the last political live program before Round 1, with all candidates, goes on unabated, without a word about the shooting. Which might be a good thing.

IT would be criminal if it wasn't mentioned.

Unless you want to normalise these types of attacks?

You misunderstood me, they have to mention it obviously , but not to stop the last political show be fore the election, which they won t do apparently so all good

24/7 info tvs have done so much harm during the last attacks i was fearing France 2 would fall into sensasionalist bullshit

BFMTV have the pictures live on air (they have a website streaming live too).

One officer dead, the other one in "extreme urgency" condition. One terrorist down, there is another one who ran into a parking lot and the police forces are also looking closely at the Marks & Spencer store there.

Some surreal images, sniper taking position onto a police truck with lots of blue around... and meanwhile some civilian cnuts are taking selfies/recording the scene with their mobile phones, right into the police face. Someone shoots them ffs! :?

Indeed.

Shit like this certainly won't hurt her. Which is, of course, part of the objective.

Feel for the Frenchies. Their resilience must be getting eroded. The tension is difficult to imagine. We in London have had a few incidents but there's been gaps between the incidents that bring comfort and their nature has been isolated and immediate. Regular marauding attacks are fecking awful. Then again, societies can be unbelievably robust.
