Some great choons I discovered via JJJ's top 100 voting page ... I'm guessing, because I loved them, that they didn't make the cut as I'm out of touch with the youf, it seems.

Blossoms - Blown Rose

Planet - Can't Connect

ACES - I'm Already Gone

The Outdoor Type - Rumination

@ Nieghorn: l like Blossoms!

I'm working from home today, this is what I've been listening to:

Plini - Electric Sunrise
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv_a6rlRjZk
New guitar master, as good as anything Vai and the Satch have ever done.

Nothing - The Dead are Dumb
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAmIxiYU1UM
Some shoegaze influences for a decent American rock band.

Bettie Serveert - Unsane
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6X3qVep7Jc
Dutch indie rock

Future Islands have a few choice numbers, but even so they sound so familiar right off the bat, like you've heard them before. I find I tire of stuff that hooks you straight away, like it's got nothing to give or discover down the line.

Anyway, I always found them similar in ways to Prefab Sprout

It's taken these guys a long time to put out an album, and it was bloody difficult to discover anything after the first few singles were released a few years ago because commonly used one word band names are a GREAT idea ...

... but for fans of Primal Scream, they've remixed this:

Society - Will to Win

I prefer this song, though ... The Fear The Hate

Cheers. They do a fine cover of Cher's Believe on Like A Version. Proving it was a well penned tune before Cher butchered it.

Late to the party again! Did you also go to 'next playing' via youtube?

I find fairly often the very first suggestion in the upper right is worth a listen if I've gone for something I know I like.

Primal Scream and Sky Ferreira - Where the Light Gets (bit of a disco vibe with this, but think it typically gets called 'indie pop')

Blue Monday, covered by people playing olde-timey instruments from 1930

California Sun

Pure Evil

... and youtube has been promoting this chick band that does similar music:
