It was not used this year, and the year is over. I assume it has not yet been presented to FIA for approval as next years car either?

I know the obvious answer is no, but...

The answer is indeed no and it's been taken up in the rules as well:

Quote:
Testing of Current Cars (TCC) shall be defined as any track running time, not part of an Event,
in which a competitor entered in the Championship participates (or in which a third party
participates on behalf of a competitor), using cars which were designed and built in order to
comply with the 2013, 2014 or 2015 Formula One Technical Regulations. No competitor may
sell or make available a car of the current year to any third party without the full knowledge of
the FIA

Rory Byrne to contribute?

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/byrne ... son-report

Turrini claims that legendary Ferrari designer Rory Byrne - a mastermind of the Michael Schumacher era - could be set to work closely with technical boss James Allison in 2015.

Well apparently Byrne worked on the F2012 and the F14T. Didn't seem to help much.

Well Turrini may not be right, or accurate. It may be more of a consulting role if Allison wants to throw around thoughts and ideas. Allison proved himself over at Lotus with his team, so I think there is confidence that he can do well in his role at Ferrari. We'll see.

Ah that fella has been "contributing" for years. I wouldn't be too upbeat about his input

It's Turrini so that's probably nowhere near the truth.

So that means Ferrari are either going to fight for the win or to fight to get into Q2 :D :D

I'm fairly sure that back in 96, they would have been rather pleased to complete a single lap in the opening race without a mechanical failure. Whilst I agree Ferrari can't be regrouping forever, I do think that the big changes to staff this year has to be given some time. Therefore, top 10 on the grid is hardly that bad.

I expect double podium finish from Ferrari this weekend. As i see it, Seb&Kimi&Allison&Arrivabene work harmoniously enough. Nonexistence of any friction within Ferrari will pay its dividends on the long run.

Ferrari HAS TO keep the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse* several years inside the team as long as they keep current harmony.

The Arrivabene led squad had mixed but not surprising day for the race start tomorrow:

TBH, Raikkonen never had his supreme qualifying laps after Michelins. I think it is not related to McLaren nor his age, his qualifying problems lay on tyre compounds. Remember Webber's performances before Pirelli? Now, seeing grid positions of the 2007 champ for the past races; <5th, 11th, 6th> , it is astonishing the other driver could win a race against dominating W06s!

Meanwhile, the 2010-2011-2012-2013 champ had a normal day in the office, and got what i have been expecting from him.

For tomorrow, i expect a podium as;

#VETTEL
#Rosberg
#Hamilton

More likely to be that in reverse, although I wouldn't rule out HAM / VET / ROS or even potentially Rosberg outside the top 3. Both Ferraris looked better on long runs than Nico.

The three drivers occupied a total of 9 podium places so far. 2015 season resembles a 1996 season with reliable machines, which in turn makes the season much more predictable in terms of podium places.

Even in 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2004, we had 5 different podium scorers out of 3 races. In 2001, there was 4 different podium scorers out of 3 races. We are in for a weird season. Not odd by action, but stat-wise unfortunately.

With the arrival of Sebastian, Arrivabene and Allison for 2015, Ferrari achieved a podium from the first 3 races of a season first time after 2007! Wow. :o

Keep up the good work. Ferrari is reinvigorated.

I was talking with my gf after the race and she asked me how it went and my response was "we didn't do so well". And then it hit me! we got a second place marginally away from the win and I was disappointed! I guess this says a lot about this year's challenger! Haven't felt like this about a race in quite a while! Forza Ferrari!!

Mr. Arrivabene knows how to handle Kimi. Fortunately, there is noone at Ferrari who tries to demotivate and devalue one driver by singing praises for the other one at every situation even if the newer claim contradicts the older one. Less ego inside Ferrari will make the Scuderia brand more reasonable, favorable and accessible on the long run.

Success is not enough to be a legendary team.

Most of the time, upgrades do not work 100% from get go. It is the reason why Ferrari brought up so many upgrades to a track with high speed corners. They want to test them as early as possible because Monaco and Canada do not have many high speed corners. Once the title battle gets heated in the summer, they want to get the results instead of struggling with upgrades.

Ferrari will not be using every single upgrade that are brought for this race after Barcelona. But they will be using the ones which did not compromise the competitiveness of overall package even if one of them makes the chassis faster for qualy but increases overall race time by eating tyres more than the old specification.

I believe that Red Bull & Seb knew much earlier than the announcement that Seb was leaving.
This means that he wouldn’t have access to all the updates that came to the car during 2014.
But Adrian said that he was a very clever lad & would be taking a lot of knowledge with him.
I am wondering are some of Adrian’s tricks & secrets starting to find their way onto the Ferrari as the year progresses.
It was said that the cars aero performance in Singapore was much improved.

I have to say all the changes Ferrari have made are astonishing. They've literally reconfigured a bunch of components, the most important one being splitting their interlock into 2 separate units in different locations, which to me, mean that will be controlling the temperature much better since their system will not allow things to get to such high temps that a singular unit would have to TRY and cool down for re-consumption.

I think they've just made their engine closer to Mercedes 2015 spec, the problem will be have Mercedes moved ahead again?

True, but I guess it's the rule of diminishing returns.

One of the most visible ways that the SF15-T lacked behind the likes of McLaren, Mercedes and Red Bull was that they couldnt package the rear of the car as tight. In theory that shouldn't be as much of an issue now.

I'm afraid is still early days and there is still plenty of room for improvement. I believe that Ferrari is extremely motivated right now and more willing to take risks. On the other hand Mercedes might be too confident after 2 superb seasons.

I saw that yesterday and was hoping there'd be more news by today. Nothing I've read says what point n the race that was displayed which might give a clue to what it means.

P1 most likely refers to Nico in first place, maybe the 3.2 was the gap at that point, and LFS6 is some reference to the soft tire with 6 laps on it? Maybe? Who knows. <shrug>

It was to do with some kind of electrical issue he had during the red flag situation. The FIA have cleared it as not an issue.
