Season standings:

Hamilton 12-3 Bottas (68/32)
Vettel 10-5 Raikkonen (57/43)
Ricciardo 6-9 Verstappen (46/54)
Perez 5-9 Ocon (48/52)
Stroll 10-5 Sirotkin (64/36)
Hulkenberg 7-8 Sainz (54/46)
Gasly 11-4 Hartley (72/28)
Magnussen 9-6 Grosjean (67/33)
Alonso 14-1 Vandoorne (91/9)
Ericsson 6-9 Leclerc (34/66)

- Lewis Hamilton extends his lead to 12-3 after recording the first whitewash victory between the Mercedes pair this year. It was also Hamilton's 8th successive TMW victory, which breaks the record for the year he'd previously shared with Alonso and Leclerc.
- Sebastian Vettel's third TMW win in four races means he's one away from taking the TMW victory for the year.
- Verstappen's resurgence continues, having now won the TMW vote in eight of the last nine races. This was also Daniel Ricciardo's third race of the year where he received no TMW vote, equal with Hartley, Vandoorne and Ericsson.
- What was once a close battle between the Force India pair has suddenly got away from Sergio Perez, with Ocon now opening up a four race advantage and edging ahead in the percentage as well.
- Like Vettel, Lance Stroll is now one TMW victory from claiming the W for the year.
- For the first time in 2018, Carlos Sainz takes the lead in the TMW battle at Renault. He still trails slightly in terms of percentage but has turned the vote around in impressive fashion.
- Pierre Gasly follows Alonso and Hamilton in securing the TMW victory for 2018 after receiving more votes than Brendon Hartley for the fourth race in succession.
- Romain Grosjean continues to repair the damage done in the first part of the season. Five TMW wins in seven races mean he has form on his side, and while he's still significantly behind in terms of percentage, he might yet be able to level the actual head-to-head.
- Alonso makes it 14-1, consigns Vandoorne to his third 0-vote race of 2018.
- And lastly but not leastly, Charles Leclerc seems to have rediscovered his form. It's now 9-6 in favour of the 2019 Ferrari driver, while one vote for Marcus Ericsson did at least prevent the Swede from becoming the first driver to have four races without receiving a vote.

I'd love to know the rationale of people voting for Hamilton... getting out-qualified by your teammate whom you then pass only with the help of team orders isn't usually a formula for winning the teammate battle.

I have not seen it, but read that Hartley actually overtook Gasly in the short race they had.

He did, but since both cars had brake failure I don't know how much to read into that. A single lap is an awfully small sample to base a vote on.

Maybe the overtake was due to the brake failure?

You know, technically more crash avoidance than calculated racing manoeuvre but hey, whatever gets the job done.
