Ferrari 3rd fastest on a track that should be all about them? Surely not.

yeah quite surprised they haven't left Red Bull in their dust. Thought party mode should have taken care of that

Probably because it wasn't a banker lap.

Most important lap of the season for Hamilton, as long as he survives Verstappen at the start. 0.7 on Bottas

This session pretty much sums up 2018. Whatever we think is going to happen, the opposite does.

Mercedes turn up to their bogey track and blow Ferrari away by over half a second, you just couldn't predict this stuff

Vettel was lucky Ricciardo, Bottas and Kimi never turned up.

Wow. This bodes badly for Ferrari for the rest of the season. Vettel seemed to take it for granted Ferrari will stay faster, and help him recover points he lost.

Man, I wish I liked his driving talent as much as I like his personality. It's hard for me to admit, but he isn't on the level of true number 1s like Alonso & Hamilton.

Only technically as it was set on the first run, but not in the true sense of the word, no. That was probably the best qualifying lap we've seen in a while. A long while.

No matter your bias and who you support you have to appreciate that lap... There's no way Hamilton should be on pole by .350 and Vettel, his championship rival, by 6 tenths at Singapore. Was it 7 tenths ahead of bottas? A lap for the ages there

The track fell away at the end. No one was able to improve.
Really shocking and stunning performance by Lewis.

Can we safely say the great qualy lap by Hamilton just got him much closer to the '18 title?

Why? Why was it better than, say, Kimi's pole last week?

Wait until the race has finished with Vettel and Verstappen behind you.

Always looks better when you are 0.7 up on your team mate, rather than 0.170 Kimi was in a Ferrari 1-2.

Kimi's was great, got me out of my seat cheering, something I haven't done for years.

Lewis' today edges it for me for the sheer unexpectedness of it, and in context of the title battle pressure. I never bought the 'bogey track' argument and expected Merc to be close to Ferrari or just behind, but 6/10s ahead makes unexpected an understatement.

This.

And let’s not forget seb is supposed to be a Singapore specialist but he couldn’t get within half a sec of Lewis. 8O

Possibly the most important qualifying lap of his career for Hamilton. If he can keep Verstappen and Vettel behind at the start, it'll be huge. 7 tenths on Bottas too, tells me it wasn't just a Mercedes leap forward that has done the damage here.

Vettel looks like he cannot beleive it.

all that means is your team mate was poor. If he drops that far behind then clearly he's not performing well enough.

Are we saying that if Bottas had managed to hook it up properly that would have made Hamilton's lap less good somehow?

Lol, dude give some credit for once and appreciate what you have just seen. What do you watch F1 for if you can't enjoy that lap.

Reading some of these comments make me so happy.
Just seen the onboard lap.
Hamilton's was pretty special and right on the limit.
His detractors will just spew the usual bile but it just makes me smile.
