Ridiculous conditions (in a good way).

Sunny at the chicane, monsoon in S3.

Really enjoyable session. What a turnaround but I guess that's down to the rain!

Someone at Ferrari (Vettel maybe) might have ran over a black cat after Silverstone.

It was looking Vettel, Kimi & Bottas had the better of him in the practice sessions but Hamilton proved he's the master when it's wet!

Didn't Kimi beat the clock? The commentators said so but he didn't put on another lap time.

Great lap by Hamilton. I do think Bottas's wet weather skills have improved a fair bit this year. He wasn't that far off concidering we call Hamilton a true master in these conditions.

RB huge dissapointments.

Ric struggles in both Q1 & 2.

Q3 was made for Verstappen apparently yet he could only muster 7th.

What happened to Verstappen only 7th more than 2 seconds slower?

Great performances from Sainz and Gasly to be P5 and P6. Also impressive from Hartley for P8. Hopefully they can all have good races tomorrow.

The Red Bull just didn't look good in the rain today. The Mercedes looked great and the Ferraris looked a little twitchy.

I actually thought he wasn't so I must have been wrong, the Hulk had a problem with his car in the other Renault.

Shocking. They are usually mega in the rain and Max is highly rated in the wet as well.

Calling BS on the Ferrari.
Kimi looked like he was easily capable of matching or beating the Mercs.
Seb looked like he didn't want to chuck it in the barrier.

Wow, Mercedes stole this pole position. They will need both cars to execute in order to complete the theft tomorrow with the victory. Ferrari will be quicker in the dry and they will attack strategically by splitting Kimi and Seb. Both Lewis and Valteri will need to work together in order to take the win but this was a huge day for the team. Once the rain starts bucketing down you always know that Hamilton will surge to the forefront but I was impressed with Bottas today. He's pretty handy in the wet himself.

So can we assume after today we've heard the last of the RB team begging for rain every time it get cloudy?

I believe Stroll spun in front of Ricciardo on his only chance of a good lap in Q2, hence being knocked out.

Max looked unusually unconfident in the wet. Any talk on his baulking of Grosjean? That was Romain's fastest lap of the session until he caught Max at the last corner.

Red Bull need a bit of rain tomorrow - though judging by today maybe they don't!

I read earlier there's a 60% chance of rain for the race. I wonder if some cars went for wet setup as today also there was prediction for rain!

100% true. The Ferrari could have been on pole today but they didn't get the timing right with kimi's tire change and Vettel didn't seem to find the pace in Q3.

I'd always wondered if Verstappen is as good as people suggest in the wet or if it was his car giving him grip in wet conditions which no other cars have the ability to find.. I think today is an example that when the car isn't spot on in these conditions, verstappen doesn't look quite as good as we think he is. I really struggle to believe that a toro Rosso witha Honda engine is better than the Red Bull with Renault. I think on this occation, Verstappen just didn't do as well as he could have done.

Watching Kimi and Seb's onboard their cars were twitchy. Bottas' onboard looked very smooth. Even the British commentators commented on how the Mercedes cars were the best in the rain. Seb did look overcautious.

Kimi had a genuine shot at pole if Ferrari hadn't left the last change so late.

Vettel looked pretty conservative in S2 judging by the onboards.

Verstappen is really strong in the wet but I have always felt that his performance in Brazil was blown out of proportion. He was the only driver in that pack to put on a brand new set of wet tires during that safety car period there and he was MUCH faster than the cars around him because of the fresh rubber (and the fact that they were midfielders and backmarkers). People didn't seem to understand what they were watching there.
