I’ll probably skip the race. It’s gonna be an uninspiring Mercedes victory parade.

Vettel absolutely has to get past Bottas at the start for this race to have any chance of being entertaining.

VSC decided 3/4 races already, it would be no surprise if we get it again

I hope Bottas manages to stay inbetween them. That way Vettel will have no chance. Mercedes really can't stress this enough, how important it is for Bottas to not let Vettel by. We know Vettel can be arrogantly agressive at the start of races, I just hope that Bottas get's a good start and fights fire with fire if Vettel tries something cheeky.

Seb is aggressive when starting on pole as all drivers are trying to protect their hard-earned advantage. He's not reckless when starting further back. I'm more interested in seeing what happens if Bottas gets a better start than Hamilton and whether he dares try a move. There haven't been any real fireworks between these two "team mates" yet but surely it will happen eventually. Now Bottas is starting to drive well, and look really competitive, it makes the odds of a collision much more likely.

I believe it's already rained & the F2 race was in the wet conditions. Even if it's sunny tomorrow, all the grips been washed away.

Lol, the f2 race had a few drops of rain. Not enough to even cause the times to drop.
Maybe some rain overnight but not really forecast.

Yes the F2 race had very slight rain nearly all the way through but never enough to settle. It just burned up immediately.

Here's hoping that Sebastian has to pay more attention to Max behind him than Lewis ahead of him at the start. A nice reenactment of Singapore 2017 between rows 2 and 3 would not be unwelcome.

I am looking forward to some fierce racing from the "best of the rest" crowd. KMag, Alonso, Sainz, & RoGro all look set for a great battle. Just hope Romain doesn't do anything tomorrow to leave everyone shaking their heads again!

Are they racing on the plain?

If it is not raining at the start..... I missed the who is starting on what tyres. Is there a place that can be found?

(Edit: I found it.... all on softs it seems)

How many stops and how big is the undercut at Spain?

I think its a 1 stop, some might try a more aggressive 2. It depends when the SC comes I guess.

A very rough calculation and given how the tyres have been the last 2 races, who knows. But on Friday when the teams done 15 lap runs the times they posted at the end of the stint were similar to the start.

That suggest tyre deg = fuel burn. Fuel burn is 0.060 per lap here approx.

Given that, a new soft vs a 20 lap old soft should be 1.2 seconds a lap quicker. But if old tyres start to grain or go off then maybe up to 2 seconds.

My only fear if Vettel wins is that Pirelli might just give another secret 1000 km test to Mercedes and bring their special tyres to more circuits. Anything to help their favourite team win.

You do realise it was not only Mercedes dont you?

Why do you feel the need to leave out Red Bull?

Spanish weather agency says 70% chance of rain and thunder between noon and 6pm today in Montmeló.

So from what normally is the case when rain is predicted, it probably won't be there  . I'm expecting it to be a damp track to start with but dry soon into the race. Rain forecasts are so rarely accurate for F1 for some reason.

It's hilarious how embarrassing these Ferrari fans have been about this. Conveniently forgetting their the only team with a all hail the mods veto!

Looking forward to a six way scrap, though as has been said, it is important Merc keep Bottas in front of Seb. I sense frustration in him, and you know when Vettel is riled. Give the lad enough rope, he'll hang himself.

GP2's running on slicks, track will be bone if it doesn't rain before.

A scene similar to last year where Raikkonen met his young fan after he cried when Raikkonen retired. Here there was no crying but as or even more admiration for Alonso from the young fan!

Here is the same cute fan:

Hamilton was mighty quick through the corners. It could've been assumed that he had sacrificed a bit of top speed for the feat. I had too noticed that he was not going above 320 km/h on the main straight.

Interesting. They are all (top ten) starting on the Softs, I believe (apart from Alonso). So unless they do a two stopper the Mercs' new Softs are redundant, which means the only new tyres they have are Mediums. But if it starts wet, then they have a bit of an advantage over all apart from Max, as they can use the new Softs later in the race and they appear to be the best tyre.

Can't remember how the Mediums played out :?

Almost time, I'm excited! Since it's mothers day I have to go out all day but I will tape the race and watch it later. I wonder if we will have a turn 1 incident or maybe weather. In a way I hope so. I almost started a "will Max and Rogro finish the race" poll but decided they will today, so let's have at it!!

You know, having a few sherbets before the race makes the Sky 'build-up' a lot more tolerable

The BBC weather app says 0% of rain until 7pm

It then changes to 1% :)

OBVIOUSLY it would be great if it rained a little

Bizarre. In the Netherlands they are talking about 80% chance of rain. How could they be so different?!

Hilariously, they're still griping about Ricciardo hitting Verstappen in Baku and hoping he got a stern talking to and/or warning from the team for it!

You need to see between the lines! Wouldn't they want rain so Verstappen has a good chance for a win?

There is rain close on the satellite image but the key is the wind 10 mph and southerly so blowing it away, however winds can change!
