Have they decided to do anything to fix this?
As with the halo now in the way, it makes it useless.

I believe on Thursdays (?) development diary with Ted Kravitz on Sky Sports F1, Ted mentioned that there is a new camera somewhere that offers full 360° views. If you have a VR Head-set, you will be able to ride along with the driver and look wherever you want. This was in an interview with James Key/Torro Rosso.

I presume the broadcasters will facilitate this camera to show unique perspectives I guess?

From what I saw with the T-Cam the Halo is obtrusive but doesn't actually obscure much of the the track view.

If Halo lasts then it wouldn't surprise me if it some point they mount camera on the Halo itself. That is if they can find a way that does not compromise the safety of the device. In that case Halo could actually end up giving us some of the best onboard views ever.

The lack of foresight is incredible, its not very difficult to design and build a new mount and camera position. A couple of months at most. They have known about the halo for years now, its like they just mounted the halo this morning and realised "oh it blocks the shoulder camera". Why are they even broadcasting the shoulder camera? Its useless.

The T-cam still offers a decent enough view. Especially on the Renault. It just needs to be maybe lifted 5-7cm and angled slightly more downwards. This would make the halo cover the suspension and bring the end of the front wing into view. Not ideal but a decent compromise.

Agreed 100%

They would have seen how bad it was during the shakedowns and the testing and came up with a quick fix at least.
Its as if they are pretending its not there.

Well...it is there...blocking the bloody view!!

Its like paying for an obstructed view seat at a sporting event. Yea your there but u cant see all the action.... A camera mounted in the pilar dead center of hoop would work.

I was also very shocked no one has addressed this. I don't understand how it wasn't addressed. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

I hope they figure it out, because as it stands now, we can't see what's happening at the front of the car

These things don't surprise me anymore. We had a season a couple of years back where they tried to use a weird elimination-style qualifying format for a while before it became blatantly obvious that it led to no one actually being on track for the dramatic close to a session. The decision making process and implementation of new ideas in F1 is completely baffling. It makes you wonder how much sloppiness there is behind the scenes within the sport. Remember when they decided to double the points for the last race a few years ago?

what suprises me most, is how some teams like Mercedes hadven't slapped sponsors on the halo in a way the on board sees them, after all the halo obstructs the sponsor logos on the nose of the car, some teams (Williams and Ferrari for example) have done this

Agreed. FIA should mandate it is somewhere. In the front of the halo would be good but we'd miss the steering wheel and a 360 degree camera is positioned in front of that whenever Liberty release the OTT feeds. T cam isnt perfect but not sure where else they could put it.

I am surprised there isn't advertising on the top surfaces of the halo.

There is, just not in all cars.

Has anyone seen any live output from these 360° cameras yet?
