Courtesy of the wind...

Image

Not that we can see much from this distance other than the car is orange with some black.

Sidepods look really tight, cutting far under the air intakes.

The wind is one thing as it's an accident, but those two guys closest to the camera should be fired for wearing the new team colours before the official unveiling.

A lot of the guys on Autosport seem to think its orange and blue after going crazy trying to change the hue of the photo.

I'm glad they're happy to go 'full orange' but it does nothing for me as a colour

Maybe if i remembered them winning in that colour it would be different, but they never really did and i wasn't around anyway

Also it kind of confirms (to me) they haven't got big time companies on board to influence the colour scheme

It's not like their dozen or so videos promoting papaya cars removed any surprise from this, anyway.

Zak has said numerous times that he isn't looking for a title sponsor and he wants McLaren's identity to remain McLaren, so I don't think changing the color scheme was ever on the cards for a sponsor.

So when they're winning championships they'll insist on no sponsors? lol, ok

Would make sense. The Indy livery had blue and some of the livery promo stuff is blue (some Orange).

Also in the teaser video the Halo appeared to be dark blue.

Nobody said anything about 'no sponsors'. But no title sponsor, and that means no livery re-design.

While you're on the subject of slagging McLaren for lack of sponsors, what team has signed more sponsors this year? I'll wait...

This "accidental unveil" was staged. The photo is so grainy none of McLaren's competitors can discern enough detail to learn anything of value. But it did draw a little attention away from other team who were grabbing the headlines.

There's bound to be a yearly redesign but if it means there will always be a base colour of orange then fair enough

I like Mclaren and wish they would fill those gaps

My initial concern was over what seemed to be a lot of hype about the colour when the car was still fairly bereft. But now it's released fingers crossed they can get something on the side soon

BTW, i know Zak has said he doesn't want a title sponsor, but even with one he wouldn't necessarily have to lose the orange. Ferrari and Mercedes keep their colours no matter what :)
