There is a new safety feature for 2018. The drivers must now wear gloves with a biometric sensor.

"If you know whether the driver is moving and breathing, you can make quite different decisions. For instance, does the car have to be moved quickly to access the driver, or can the recovery be done more cautiously?"

I remember reading about this when they did the tests a while back. Very interesting and will be a big help to the trackside medical crew.
