Without throwing it away in Q1 Hamilton would have won this easily. His new engine seems to work well and is now only 11 seconds behind Bottas who started on pole.

Agreed, there pace was similar throughout all practice sessions. But hamilton has better race pace.... His new engine is just highlighting his current pace but it wouldnt have been so obvious without the upgrade.

Thanks to the pit lane start he's is also the only car on track that was specifically set-up for the track conditions today, (being in a non-parc ferme state).

His track times are showing this.

Really needs that safety car... Maybe grosjean can help with that. ;)

Only if Bottas and Vettel decide they'd rather watch the race from the side of the track instead

Having to manage some reported tire temperature issues, looks like Vettel will be bunching up the top 4.

Brundle on Sky feed is wrong, it's not the fastest ever - Fastest is still Montoya with 1:11.473 - still, pretty great lap from Lewis.
EDIT: Think Verstappen might have a chance with SS now though!

I believe Ham can win this race. Needs to clear Kimi fast and then Merc need to swap cars.

If Vettel runs into trouble here with tyres then Hamilton really could do it.

Nah scratch that too much time to make up by the end of the race for Ham - Vettel has it in hand even if Ham produces some magic on Kimi.

The Mercs were at least as ridiculously fast up the hill, I'd say.

I was hoping for more but it was wishful thinking on my part for a mighty charge. Still a great effort from Lewis!

Ferrari finally win a race again - it's about time!

That's why he pitted just to get fastest lap.
