With all the talk of the gaps between teams being vastly reduced and team principals talking of surprises in the early races is 2012 going to be the year the drivers come to the fore??
Maybe this is the best year for a while to rank the drivers in ability??

Sounds like it pre-season, but I'm guessing it'll be McLaren and Red Bull out in the front followed by the others.
But in a way yes, it'll be closer behind those two teams I hope.

It's all speculation until qualifying in Australia anyway.

Yes and No.

Last season gave us a dominating RBR (If Webber did a better job it would of been fight for the last podium).

Some tracks suit different cars/drivers. Still too many factors in results, right tyre right time right temperature.

Is it the year of the drivers? again yes and no because there is going to be a difference between the car performances and we will not know till this weekend.

I certainly hope that the OP is right but my experience tells me that there will still be cars that are better than the others. The best we can hope for is that there are 2 or 3 teams with cars that are roughly on par with each other instead of one team setting the pole in every single race.
